Bee tattoos
Mankind has known the symbol of a bee from rock paintings since the late Stone Age.

Many ancient nations considered bees either divine beings, or creatures that accompanied Gods.

In ancient Greece people believed that souls of dead Aphrodite’s (the goddess of love) priestesses became bees. The queen bee often symbolized supreme power of matriarchy, the Mother Goddess.
Such harmonious, developed and well-ordered system as a beehive was compared to all communities where existed supreme power, whether it was Egypt pharaohs’ authority, or Europe monarchs, or emperors of Indochina. The bee was a symbol of royal power in France, which was embroidered on Napoleon’s clothes.
Bee’s honey was a basis of Ambrosia, that considered a drink of Gods. During a thousand years ordinary people has been using bees in order to get honey and other bee products for food and treatment. Even bee stings (in certain doses) are healing and give health and longevity.
In Africa and Australia bees are regarded as protective talismans - totems.
